I had my 1999 dodge neon service here. They were there to greet me with a happy smile answered all my questions with great knowledge and expertise.This is the third shop that i had been to including two of those big chain stores that claim they have the right knowledge and "touch" but were unable to ever get it right and stop squeaking. This shop was very able to fix it within just a few hours. Which is far sooner then they said that they even were able to get at looking at it.I now know why it would take a while to look at my car when the shop is that good at fixing cars they are going to be busy. It is well worth the money and time as you only need it there once for that repair.

The place is clean, not oily & greasy like some places... I live close, and they offered me a ride home. They called me later that day and told me they only needed 49.95 to figure out my thermostat was stuck and hose was leaking and i didn't need the waterpump I thought I needed. My car was ready the next day and It cost less than I thought it would. I would go back again because they were honest and they treated like they wanted me to come back.

I went to kerns because of the way they answered the phone and because of how helpful they were over the phone. They initially asked me to o.k. $197. for check engine light test. Later they called me and said they only needed $49.95 for the test. The estimate was $248. for repairs including the test. They called later when the car was fixed and told me the $. it was the same as the estimate. On top of that, they gave me a rewards card, and 5% of what I spent was put on the card for me to use next visit. They paid me back for going there! They were friendly, timely and helpful. The shop was clean and the guy behind the counter was funny and clean. They earned my business and i will tell my friends.

I took my car in because my check engine light was on. They gave me a quote from 100-300, but said that if the problem was very simple, the charge would be lower. I was never called about the status of my car when they said they would contact me. When I finally contacted them, they seemed annoyed and told me that they were still working on the problem. When I went to pick up my car, I was told that nothing was wrong with it, no parts were ordered and they just had to reset the switch. I was charged $300 to reset the switch and drive my car around!!! And to top it off, they wanted me to come in again to have my transmission looked at because they thought there was something wrong with it. Well the reset didn't work, I took it into the dealer this time, it took them only 20 min to diagnose the problem and it had nothing to do with the transmission, just a faulty sensor. The dealerships diagnostic was only $100/hr. I would never recommend Kern's automotive to anyone. They will try and scam you, the customer service was awful, and they couldn't even fix my original problem.

They really know how to "work the clock" and will rip you off on labor charges. I had a diagnositc problem that was cut and dry, reset the light and drive the car around, no parts were needed. I was charged over $200 for this, the dealership would have only cost me $95. When is the dealership cheaper than an independent shop?!? On top of that, I was never notified of my cars status, I was the one who had to call in and check on it. I will never return to this place for service, and will not recomend this place to anyone.
